RESPECTED VENICE MATRON PASSES TO GREAT BEYOND
Mrs. Frank Cowley Died Tuesday From Complication of Diseases
Mrs. SARAH WHITNEY COWLEY, beloved wife of Frank Cowley and highly respected church and community worker of Venice, passed out of this life Tuesday evening. A complication of diseases which held her bedfast for the last seven weeks caused her death, which, while not coming entirely unexpected, was a severe shock not only to the immediate family but to the entire community and her death will cause a gap hard to fill.
Mrs. Cowley was born February 14, 1875, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Whitney of Millville in Cache County. Thirty-two years ago she married Frank Cowley and the couple resided in Venice ever since, living in the happiest union which was blessed with seven children, two sons and five daughters. The sons are Rodney of Venice and Waldemar of Pasadena, California. The daughters who mourn the loss are Mrs. Laura Smith of Venice, Mrs. Rhoda Breinholt of Venice, Mrs. Merlin Fraser of Santa Monica, California, Mrs. Adele Gray of Susanville, California and Lucille, Dorothy and Carrol Cowley of Venice. Ten grandchildren, two brothers and seven sisters are also among the survivors.
Funeral services will be held in Venice Sunday at 2 O'Clock P.M.

LAST RITES FOR MRS. FRANK COWLEY
Held Sunday at Venice Meeting House; attendance Unusually Large
Funeral services were held Sunday at the Venice Ward meeting house for Mrs. Frank Cowley, who died at their home Tuesday after an illness which held her bedfast for seven weeks.
Bishop J.C. Cowley officiated at the services. Musical numbers were the song, "O My Father", by a mixed quartet", a solo, "May My Walk be Close With God", was pleasingly rendered by Stanley Davis; a duet, entitled "Because You Know", by L.W. Gardner and C.L. Buchanan carried a message of peace and comfort to the bereaved. A solo, "Face to Face", was touchingly rendered by Mrs. C.A. Reese, and the closing hymn, "Jesus, Lover of My Soul", by a mixed quartet.

The speakers, A.W. Buchanan, Mrs. Annie E. Davis, H.H. Bell, Mrs. Geo. Brugger and President R.D. Young, all spoke with comfort and fervor of the good citizenship, the diligent church work and the devotedness of Mrs. Cowley to her home and family during the thirty-two years of her residence in Venice. Mrs. Annie E. Davis, president of the Relief Society, mentioned especially Mrs. Cowley's active work in the Relief Society Board, were read by Mrs. Geo. Brugger.
The opening prayer was offered by C.O. Jackson, benediction by G. Brugger.
The large attendance and the profusion of beautiful floral offerings showed the high esteem of Mrs. Cowley's "friends" for her.
Interment was in the city cemetery, the grave being dedicated by A.L. Buchanan.
Surviving are her husband and the following children; Mrs. Adele Gray of Susanville, California, Mrs. Merlin Fraser of Santa Monica, Calif., Waldemar Cowley of Pasadena, Calif., Mrs. Laura Smith, Mrs. Rhoda Breinholt and Rodney. Lucille, Dorothy and Carrol Cowley of Venice.
