Thank U Amy Bolinder for transferring my Grandma's Memorial in my care & to Mary Richards for sponsoring her Memorial. I'm grateful to the both of U.
I may not be able to thank all of U individually, but I thank U so much & appreciate your tokens & notes that U leave to my sweet Grandma.
I knew her briefly, but she left a good impact on my life. I don't know of any siblings that she may or may not had, but I would guess she may had. I don't recall of my Dad speaking of any aunts or uncles on either his Mom or Dad's side of the family. My Grandma Laura Pennington was born in a Leap Year on a Tuesday & she passed away on a Wednesday at 7:00 AM EST. Her age: 94 yrs., 2 mo. & 6 days. Her daughter & 7th child, Ruth (Pennington), Browning, outlived her by 1 yr., 7 mo. & 1 day at age: 95 yrs., 9 mo. & 7 days & lived the longest of anyone in my family.
The best I know of my Grandma, was that she was God fearing & loved going to church. I remember of her, that she walked around well on her own, without a cane or wheelchair & she never drove a car. She was soft spoken & her hair was gray & long & wore it in a single braid way past her lower back. At times she would arrange her braided hair on the top of her head. That was her crown of glory. By Monday, Oct. 28, 2052, she will be gone as the same amount of time she lived among her family & friends. I love her & miss her. She was 78 yrs., 5 mo. & 18 days of age when I was born. I was 15+ yrs. of age when she died. I never attended her funeral, but my Mom said that my Grandma was laying mostly on her side, holding a rose in her hand. She was preceded in death by two of her children, first born: Miss Lila Pennington, age: 22 yrs,. 9 mo. & 26 days in 1913 & youngest of three sons, Carter Pennington, (never married), age: 20 yrs., 7 mo, & 13 days in 1925. ~ By: Mom of Timothy L Turner. Laura & Jesse were married in June, 1890 & was married 51 years & 5 months upon Jesse's passing in November, 1941. Nine (9) children were born in this marriage, plus they reared a Granddaughter, Mrs. James/ Mae Combs.
