Mr. Allen was a member of Victory Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon. After 32 years of service, he retired from Fiber Industries. Mr. Allen was a past president of the Cooleemee Civitans. He was a member of the Spencer Moose Lodge where he had served as past president and past governor. Mr. Allen had been past state president and was currently serving as the assistant territory manager of the NC Moose Association. In May 2000, he received the Pilgrim's Degree, the Moose Lodge's highest honor.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two siblings, Shelby Hutchens and Jimmy Allen.
Survivors include his wife, Annie Chastain Allen of the home; four children, Donna Ivey (Dennis) of SC, Jackie Allen, Vicki Mutch (Craig) and Kenny Allen (Jennifer), all of Mocksville; five grandchildren, Katie Allen, Patrick Mutch, Kelli Allen, Kallen and William Mutch; five sisters, JoAnn Barney, Jane Sammons (Dwight), Peggy Gaither (Butch), all of Mocksville, Glenda Call of Salisbury and Darlene Naylor (Dale) of Mocksville; and seven four-legged grandchildren. A funeral service will be conducted at 12 p.m., Wednesday, June 22, at Victory Baptist Church with Rev. Shelby Harbour officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Wednesday, at the church. Entombment will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 23, in Rowan Memorial Park Mausoleum in Salisbury.
