MISS SARAH CHRISTIAN

Miss Sarah Christian died at the home of her brother, Charles Christian, in this city, at 1:00 o'clock a.m., on Monday, March 6, 1911, aged 68 years.

The funeral was held at the U. B. church, Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. G. I. Findley, pastor, and the remains consigned to the family burial plot in the Chariton cemetery.

Sarah Christian was born in Van Buren county, Iowa, near Bonaparte, December 1, 1843. She united with the Baptist church in early life. Some years later, while visiting in Wisconsin, she united with the Presbyterian church, but since returning to Chariton she has been a consistent member of the United Presbyterian church of this place.

Sometime since, she was taken ill, and the disease increased its grasp and it was seen that she was beyond human skill to relieve and finally death came, and she passed on to a beautiful resignation.

For a long time she had been the only companion of her brother, who is an invalid, confined to his room, and cared for his home, and this severance of earthly ties causes him to feel her loss keenly.

She was a good and noble woman and ever aimed to do her duty so far as she had light to see it, and was a lady of strong mind and character, sympathetic in her nature and benevolent in her acts. The mantle has fallen and another life chapter has ended.
