BUFFALO - Madge Elizabeth Hamrick Bishop, 86, of National Healthcare Center, died April 13, 1997, in Tuomey Regional Medical Center, Sumter, after an extended illness.

A native of Marrietta, Ga., she was the widow of Roy Bishop and daughter of the late William Andrew and Sallie Roberts Hamrick.

She was a member of Buffalo Baptist Church. She was formerly employed with United Merchants, Buffalo Plant, and the Remnant Store of Union.

Survivors include one daughter, Joan B. Lawson of Greenwood; three sons, Jack C. Bishop of Summerville, Rodger Bishop of Sumter and Jerry Bishop of Ottuma, Iowa; two brothers, Fields Hamrick of Union and Billy Joe Hamrick of Buffalo; 15 grandchildren; and 17 greatgrandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 tonight at S.R. Holcombe Funeral Home. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Buffalo Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Wayne Jones and Dr. Jack C. Bishop Jr. Burial will be in Union Memorial Gardens. The body will be placed in the church at 10 a.m.
