He was born on Nov. 28, 1940, in West Virginia and was a son of the late Paul Edward Hilliards and Virgie Rhinehart Hilliards.
Mr. Hilliards worked in maintenance for the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) for 28 years.
On March 24, 1958, he married Lula Jean Bolen Hilliards, who survives.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two daughters, Dianna Lynne Waters and April Dawn Dovel, both of Luray; a brother, Levi Hilliards of Timberville; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy and Eddie Hilliards; and a sister, Betty Alger.
A funeral service was conducted on Wednesday, March 16, at the Bradley Funeral Home. Burial was in the Beahm's Chapel Cemetery in Luray.
