Mary Janice (Mincy) Hughes, age 55 of Lakesite entered into rest at her home Saturday evening, March 8, 2008 while surrounded by her family. Janice was born in Dayton on March 24, 1952 and was a graduate of the Cumberland County High School class of 1970 and then graduated from UT-Knoxville class of 1974. She had been employed as an elementary school teacher in both Knox and Hamilton counties. Janice was a member of the Rainbow Girls in Crossville and a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Soddy-Daisy. She had been a resident of Lakesite since 1984. Janice is survived by her husband of 24 years, Ronald Ralph Hughes; her children, Lori Hughes, a student at Belmont University, Brandon Hughes of Orlando, FL and Casey Hughes, a student at Soddy-Daisy High School. Janice is also survived by her parents, Arthur and Mary (Revis) Mincy of Dayton, brother, Phillip (Kathy) Mincy of Chattanooga, sisters, Phyllis (Chuck) Dixon of Homosassa, FL, Cheryl (Jason) Fitzgerald of Dayton and nieces, Chrissy Willocks, Becky Mincy, Katie Mincy, Alex Hughey, Lainey Fitzgerald, Jacqueline Dixon, Caroline Dixon, Lauren Forsythe, Chrissy Cornelius and nephews Jackson Fitzgerald and Drew Forsythe. Funeral services for Janice will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ken Sauer, Rev. Rusty Revis, Rev. Clyde Fitzgerald and Rev. Tommy Wilkey officiating. Burial will be in Buttram Cemetery followed by a white dove release. The family is being served by the Vanderwall Funeral Home in Dayton where they will receive friends Monday from 4:00pm until 8:00pm.
