DENTON May 26 (Sp1)---Rev J. L. Elliott, 86, a leader in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years died at his home here Wednesday he was found dead in bed Wednesday night and Justice of the Peace Z. D. Lewis rendered a verdict of natural death.
Rev Elliott retired about 14 years ago He was instrumental in establishing the Cumberland Presbyterian Church here and was its first pastor He also held pastorates in Lubbock and Fort Worth where he was in charge of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church He located the Cumberland Presbyterian Home for children here 18 years ago.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Cumberland Presbyterian Church here Rev L D. Ballard officiating.
Survivors include a son L. B. Elliott of Colorado City; three daughters Mrs. S. A. Martin of Colorado City, Mrs. A. L. Faw of Hobbs New Mexico and Mrs. C. M. Mizell of Denton.
