Mr. Biggio was born in Winchester on Jan. 19, 1926, the son of the late John W. and Marcella Biggio. He was a graduate of Stoneham High School, Class of 1943, Northeastern University with bachelor of arts in English and he received his master's degree in English from Boston College.
He began his teaching career in New Hampshire at Austin-Cate Academy and later taught in Lexington and Bedford's junior and high schools. He retired from Bedford Public Schools where he taught English, U.S. History and geography and was the head of the Social Studies Dept.
A resident of Bedford for 45 years, he was a former president of the Bedford Teachers Association, a member of the Lions Club, St. Michael's Parish, a charter member of the reactivated Colonial Minuteman where he was a past captain and a drummer and a member of the Public Ceremonies Committee.
He was a participant with local softball, hockey and golf teams and especially enjoyed hiking. He was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club and the 4,000 Footer Club. Many years ago he coached girls hockey and softball at Austin-Cate and was known as 'Coach'.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Biggio is survived by three daughters; a brother John Biggio of Stoneham; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
His funeral Mass was celebrated in St. Michael Church, Bedford, on Thursday, Oct. 27. Interment was in Shawsheen Cemetery in Bedford.
