Andy Stanley, age 96 of Huber Heights, Ohio, passed away on June 16, 2016 in Seymour, Indiana. Born in Lee County, Virginia, Andy was the son of Emmet and Lizzie Beck (Thompson) Stanley.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thelma Katherine (Lynch) Stanley, and his brother Harold T. Stanley of Noblesville, Indiana. Andy is survived by his daughter Donna Stanley of Seymour, Indiana, his sister Helen Lawson of Vandalia, Ohio, and several cousins, relatives, and friends. Andy was a World War II veteran and served in the Army Air Corps. He was a tail gunner on a plane shot down over Bremen, Germany in 1943 and was kept as a POW in Stalag 17B in Kremes, Austria for 21 months. Andy was liberated in May of 1945 after a 14 day forced march through the woods. He later served in the Korean War as a combat crew member and in Thailand during the Vietnam conflict. Andy retired from the Air Force after 26 years, then worked at DESC for 12 years and Wright Patterson AFB for 10 years. Andy was a life member of American Legion Post 200, DAV Chapter 9, and VFW Post 3283.
