Robert Simon Briggs, 89, of Binghamton was welcomed into the arms of God on June 14, 2016. He was predeceased by his mom and dad Anna Kozak and Earl Simon Briggs; sisters Ruth, Ann, Helen and Marion; brothers Earl and Paul. He is survived by his long time friend and companion Arlene McAvoy; his children Virginia and Kevin Blair, Penny and Tim Keyes , Christopher Briggs; grandchildren Jescelle, Danielle, Joshua, Chelsea; great grandchildren Caleb and Aria. In 1944 he served in the Army during WWII where he received medals which include the American Campaign Good Conduct and WWII Victory Medal. An honorable discharge was given in 1946. He retired on 11/26/1990 from 33 years at GAF Ozlid, FPCA Johnson City. In his spare time he enjoyed playing cards, tasting wine, woodworking and took over 20 years to build a beautiful family treasure a Doll house by hand. He will be sadly missed especially for his sense of humor. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17, 2016 from 8:30 to 9:30am at St. Mary of the Assumption Church in Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be conducted at 9:30am. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements are in the care of the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC.
