Bettie received her high school diploma in the Columbus Public School System, undergraduate studies in Music Education at Fisk University and a Master's Degree at The Ohio State University.
She enjoyed being a member of The Sophisticates, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Pi Kappa Lamba National Honorary Music Fraternity.
Bettie was employed by Dayton Public Schools as a Music and Resource Teacher for more than 29 years before retiring.
She is preceded in death by her parents, John and Mamie Willis; brothers, Edward Willis and Leroy Willis.
Bettie is survived by her husband of 57 years, Herbert Leroy Carroll; son, Herbert Geoffrey (Verna) Carroll; daughter, Carmen Patrice Carroll (Carl) Strong; (6) grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
