Mrs. William Covington, 80, wife of the president of the Alvord National Bank, died about noon Monday at her home in Alvord after a long illness.
The former Agnes Frensley, she was born in Arkansas. She moved to Alvord with her mother in 1886 and was married to Covington in January 1898.
A member and leader of the First Baptist Church in Alvord 58 years, she devoted time and leadership to the Women's Missionary Union.
Funeral services for Mrs. Covington were held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the First Baptist Church at Alvord with the pastor, Rev. Grayson Glass officiating. Burial was in Alvord Cemetery under direction of the J. R. Rhyne Funeral Home of Alvord.
Surviving besides her husband are four sons, Weldon of Austin; Harmon and William Jr. of Alvord; and Pete of Dallas; nine grandchildren; and two brothers, C. F. Frensley of Dallas and O. J. Meador of Wichita Falls.
