The following information was provided by Grave Walker - Kathy Lou Abuhl, 69, was set free from her diseased and disabled body, on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 1:45 a.m., she walked through those Pearly Gates into the New Jerusalem and the open arms of Jesus. She was born October 3, 1943, in Topeka, Kansas, to Cleo and Florene (Gilmer) Fuqua.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Wayne of Ankeny, Iowa; her children, Jenni (Bill) Hunt of Nairobi, Kenya, Judi (Robin) Van Dyke, Jill (Shannon) Haus, and Alan (Lynne) Abuhl, all of Ankeny, IA, and Andy (Kristi) Abuhl of Alleman, Iowa; her siblings, Cleo Fuqua of Pella, IA, Maxine Christensen of Altoona IA, Jolene (Jack) Gordon of Ankeny, IA, and Chris Fuqua of Ankeny, IA; her 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; as well as a special grafted-in son, Martin (Kathy) Prime of San Fernando, Trinidad and Tabago; and three special grandchildren through Martin. Kathy was preceded in death by her parents, Cleo and Florene Fuqua.
Above all else Kathy was a woman of Faith, a loyal wife and a loving mother. She invested her life building her family, loving people, and making friends. Kathy lived the last 16 years of her life courageously, to the best of her ability, and with little or no self pity in slow steady decline with Alzheimer's disease.
