Gene was born in rural Williamsport on March 23, 1929. He was the son of the late Claude and Florence Edith Bell Eacret. He was raised near West Lebanon, attending West Lebanon High School. He has lived in Stone Bluff since 1955.
Gene formerly worked at Harrison Steel Castings Company in Attica and later as a machinist for Tee Pak Company in Danville, where he worked for 26½ years, retiring on Jan. 8, 1993.
Gene served during the Korean Conflict in the U.S. Army. He was a life member of the VFW Post 3318 of Attica. He had attended the Stone Bluff United Methodist Church. He was an avid woodworker.
On Sept. 13, 1952, Gene married Ruth O. Young at the Attica Free Methodist Church. She survives. Also surviving are two sons, Samuel David (wife-Sharon) Gritten of Attica and Robert Everett (wife-Joyce) Eacret of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; a grandson raised in the home, Donald Edwin Eacret, Stone Bluff; four sisters, Marilyn Scott of Williamsport; Pearl (husband-Jesse) Hutts and Patricia Kirby, both of Attica; and Catherine Abernathy of LaFollette, Tenn.; eight other grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur and Richard Eacret, along with two sisters, Flora Cunningham and Janet Murphy.
