Sweetwater - Funeral for Gordon G. King, 65, who apparently shot himself Sunday evening at the Texas Electric Co. distribution building west of Sweetwater, is pending at Patterson-McCoy Funeral Home.

Mr. King officially retired Sunday from Texas Electric Service.

Justice of the Peace Ralph Shaffer ruled death by self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Sheriff Joe Slater said that Mr. King had left his home in his car late Sunday afternoon. His brother-in-law, Floyd Smith, and Dale Merritt, a Texas Electric employee, were concerned when the family said King was despondent and the two men began looking for him.

According to the sheriff, the two men saw King's car at the distribution building and heard a shot as they approached the building.

Mr. King was a veteran of World War II and served in Africa, Italy, France and Germany.

He became a lineman for Texas Electric in Colorado City and transferred to the company's distribution department in Sweetwater.

Survivors are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Juanice Hair of San Antonio; two sons, Bobby Gayle of Ft. Sill, Okla, and Gordon G. II (Buddy) of Austin.
