James Perry Peeples was born in Modesto, CA. to James Lee Peeples and Bettie Joe Rennels in 1950. James' father died of nephritis in 1953. After James' mother Bettie met and married Leo J. Mayer, the family moved to San Francisco, CA., then Pacifica, CA., where James and his 5 siblings grew up. James was called: "Perry" by close friends and family. He met and married Deborah L. Hagler in 1971, and they moved to Redwood City, where they had a daughter, Kelly Marie, on Christmas Day, 1971. The family lived in Redwood City, Mountain View, and Milpitas, CA. James worked for the State of California for many years. After he and Deborah divorced in 2001, James set his sites on moving to Rapid City, South Dakota, a dream of his since he visited there as a child. He finally realized that dream in 2010 when he retired, and lived out the last 6 years of his life in the place that he said made him feel the most like home, his "spiritual place". His second favorite city was San Francisco, where he had many great experiences. James is survived by his daughter Kelly, mother Bettie, siblings Jo Rita, Linda, Steve, Laura, and David, and ex-wife Deborah.Cremation has taken place upon request. No local services have been planned.
