Enlisted for Civil War service in Company B, 103rd Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Aug. 9, 1862, at Olmsted Twp.(Cuyahoga County), as a private for a term of 3 years. He was discharged Jan. 8, 1863 at Lexington, KY on a Surgeon's Certificate of disability. He apparently then enlisted in Company G, 125th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry, Dec. 24, 1863. He was wounded at the Battle of Resaca, GA, May 14, 1864 and was transferred to the 47th Company, 2nd Battallion, Veteran Reserve Corps, Dec. 13, 1864. He was mustered out a Washington, DC by Order of the War Department. [Thanks to volunteer William Stark for military information.]
