Chester Harless was born in Elizabeth, Lawrence, Ohio and was the son of George Harless and Lucretia Miller (Lena C appears on his birth record).

Chester's birth entry has his date of birth as October 24, 1892. However, both his WW1 and WW2 draft cards, which he signed, carry his birth date as October 25, 1892.

Chester Harless and Blanche Hall were married on 30 Sep 1917 at Jackson, Ohio. Blanche was the daughter of James Hall and Ellen Sumpter.

The 1917-18 time frame finds Chester working as a laborer for an iron works. By 1942, he has taken a position with the WPA.
