Mediapolis New Era, Mediapolis, IA, 8 Oct. 1958 -- Clarence A. Hutchcroft, 64, died at 12:15 p.m. Sunday, October 5, 1958 at Burlington hospital following a heart attack Saturday night. He was born August 14, 1894 in Des Moines County, the eldest son of Wesley Dennett and Anne (Lane) Hutchcroft. He was a life resident of this community and produce dealer and business man in Mediapolis for 29 years.

On August 21, 1917, he was married to Lucille VanNice at the home of her parents in Huron township. He was a member of the First Presbyterian church. Surviving are his wife: two sons, Charles D., Ames, Harold W., Middletown; three daughters, Mrs. Gilman Wright, Mrs. Frank Trevitt, Mrs. Charles Nelson all of Mediapolis. Also 15 grandchildren, two sisters, Hazel and Nellie both of Burlington; and a brother, Herbert W., Knoxville, IL.

A son, Lester was killed on Iwo Jima during World War 11 and another son, Richard died in infancy. Also preceding him in death were 2 brothers, John R. who died in 1921, Paul T. who died in 1953, 2 brothers and 1 sister died in infancy.
