Gas City - Francis E. Fanning, 55, died suddenly today while at work at the Owen-Illinois plant. He had been ill for two and one-half years, but had continued to work.
Born in Tennessee, Mr. Fanning was a resident of Gas City for 29 years. He was a member of the Onized Club, and was active in the Gas City Booster Club.
Survivors include the widow, Maude; two sons, Larry, East Lansing, Mich., and Donald, Marion; two daughters, Mrs. Blanche Rogers, R.5, Marion, and Kay, at home; two brother, Frank, Dade City, Fla., and William, Baltimore, Md.: a sister, Mrs. Addie Lingerfelt, Erwin, Tenn., and eight grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday at 400 E. Main St. Rev. Wesley Bullis, Pastor of the Gas City Methodist Church, officiated. Burial was made in the Riverside Cemetery, Gas City.
