LONE OAK - Floyd "Pete" Abbott, 59, of Lone Oak died Friday at 1:05 a.m. at his home after a long illness.

Funeral service will be today at 2 at Lone Oak Baptist Church with the Rev. Morris Mohon and the Rev. Charles Hart officiating. Burial will be at Forest Park Cemetery.

Abbott was born May 25, 1920, at Floyd, the son of Jack and Estell Gossit Abbott. He married Bobbie Long at Lone Oak March 7, 1947. He was a member of Lone Oak Baptist Church and Shiloh Lodge No. 307 at Lone Oak. He was a 32nd degree Mason and member of the Scottish Rite-Hella Temple of Dallas and Caddo Mills Chapter No. 82, Order of the Eastern Star. He had served as president of Lone Oak State Bank and was a rancher and stockman. Abbott was a U.S. Army veterand of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; son, Mike Abbott of Dallas; daughter, Tina Brown of Lone Oak; brothers, Calvin Abbott of Mount Pleasant and J.C. Abbott of Josephine; sisters Mildred Hargrave of Josephine and Alene Westberry of Garland.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Abbott, Larry Abbott, Jack Abbott, Jimmy Westberry, James Beavers and Ronald Glenn.

Arrangements are under the direction of Bartley's Lone Oak Funeral Home.
