Ruth D. Reese, 92 of Clinton, died Monday June 6, 2016 at Eagle Point Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center.
A mass will take place at 10:30 AM on Friday June 10th at Prince of Peace Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until 10:30 AM Friday at the church. Burial will be at St. Irenaeus Cemetery.
Ruth Delores Reese was born March 10th, 1924 in LaMotte, Iowa, the daughter of Peter and Josephine (Deppe) Hingtgen. She was educated at St. Joseph Catholic School in Bellevue and Holy Rosary at LaMotte, Iowa.
Ruth married Harold Gaarde on June 4, 1947. Harold died in 1971. She then married Edward Reese on October 11, 1974. Edward died in 2012.
Ruth worked at Savanna Ordinance Depot in Savanna, IL, Curtis Co for 10 years, was part owner of Gaarde’s Jack and Jill Grocery Store and worked as a clerk for McLanes Office Equipment.
She was past President of the Lyons Club, belonged to the Women of the Moose for 36 years and was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Christine Foster of Clinton; two grandchildren, Jessica (Nicole) Spensley of Clinton and Travis (Christopher) Wilson of Rochester, MN; a special niece, Ann Marie Tanner; two step-daughters, Karen (LaRon) Ingwerson of Fulton, IL and Diana (Henry) Emerson of Morrison, IL; seven step-grandchildren; four great grandchildren; nine step-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; four sisters, Lucile Ries, Irma Schlegal, Marie Tanner and Velma Schwager; a step-daughter Pamela Lynn and two step-great grandchildren.
Memorials can be made to the St. Boniface Catholic Historical Center.
