James Lloyd Owens, 77, well known area rancher and farmer, died June 4, 1982, in an Idaho Falls hospital following a short illness.

He was born July 15, 1904, at Iona, Idaho to Cadwallender Stephens and Mary Williams Denning Owens, Idaho Pioneers.

He attended schools at Iona and Roberts, Idaho. He married Catherine (Kate) Byram, August 26, 1927 at Blackfoot, Idaho.

As a young man he worked at various farms in the Idaho Falls area. He then leased ranches at Blackfoot and Salmon, Idaho, later owning ranches in Salmon, Missoula and McAllister, Montana.

His wife Catherine (Kate), died in 1968. He married Mary Byram, April 5, 1969, in McAllister. They lived there for about one year. They moved between California and Idaho Falls until they came permanently to Idaho Falls eight years ago.

He is survived by his wife Mary and two sons, Byram DeLloyd (Dee)and Lynn Owens both of McAllister, Montana; a daughter, Bonnie Bausch, La Habra Height, California; three brothers, Reed Owens and Jerry Owens both of Idaho Falls, Gene Owens of Salmon; nine grand-children and three great grand-children.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at the Wood Chapel of the Pines.

Family will visit with friends Sunday 7:30-9 p.m. at the Wood Funeral Home in Idaho Falls, Idaho.

Burial will be in the McAllister Cemetery in McAllister, Montana at 3:00.
