Langley, born posthumously at Cardiff, Glamorgan, Wales, after her father had
been beheaded by a mob at Bristol 13 Jan 1400 for treason against Henry IV in
the Epiphany Rising with Henry Bolingbroke.
Isabel married Richard de Beauchamp, Joint Warden of the Welsh Marches and 1st
Earl of Worcester, on 27 Jul 1411 at Tewkesbury. They had one daughter,
Elizabeth de Beauchamp who married Edward de Neville. Richard died at the Siege
of Meaux in France 18 Mar 1422.
Secondly, Isabel married Richard de Beauchamp, the 13th Earl of Warwick and the
cousin of her first husband (their fathers were brothers) on 26 Nov 1423 at
Hanley Castle in Worcestershire. Their children were Henry de Beauchamp who
married Cecille de Neville and Anne de Beauchamp, who married Cecille's brother,
Richard de Neville, the Kingmaker.
Someone sent this to me but it appears it belongs with your Isabel.
There is an inscription on the chapel where she rests. It runs along the outside and inside walls as follows:
"Mementote dne Isabelle le Despenser Comitisse de Warrewick Que hanc capellam fundavit in honore bte Marie Magdalene Et obiit Londiniis apud Minres A° Dni MCCCCXXXIX Die Scti Jhis Evngste Et sepulta e i choro i dextra patris sui cuj. Ame parcet Deus. Amen."
Translation:
"Remember the Lady Isabelle le Despencer, Countess of Warwick, who founded this chapel to the honour of the blessed Mary Magdalene, and died in London in the Minories AD 1439 on the day of Saint John the Evangelist [27th December], and was buried in the Choir on the right hand of her father, on whose soul may God have pity. Amen."
