Nancy Jane Morgan Hughes Morgan, widow of Amos William Morgan, died at her residence December 4, 1949.

A widow at the time of her death, Nancy passed away in Williamstown, (Grant County) Kentucky on December 04, 1949 after suffering a heart attack the previous day. She is interred with her first husband, John William Hughes, and two of her sons in the Hughes plot in the New Columbus Cemetery.

Born August 04, 1865 to John William Morgan and Minerva Meeks Morgan, Nancy Jane was a native of Grant County.

Nancy had several brothers, half-brothers, and half-sisters as her father, John William Morgan, later married America Hughes.

Sibilings: Jasper Morgan, Newton Morgan, Sarah Morgan, Martha Morgan, LaFayette Morgan, Minerva Morgan, James R. Morgan, Nora Morgan, and Bettie Morgan.

Nancy married John William Hughes on August 4, 1881 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Churchin Owen County. They were married by Daniel Cobb. The couple resided in New Columbus, (Owen County) KY. John William and Nancy Jane had six children and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Children: Elzie Hughes (1883-1886); Dannie Hughes (1888-1968); Gusty Hughes (1889[91]-1911); Hallie Hughes Kenney (1894-1987); Zora Hughes Cook (1900-1971); Zelma Hughes Kennedy (1900-79).

For a time Nancy moved to and lived in Lexington, KY. On December 17, 1934 Nancy married Amos William Morgan, widower of Polly Anna Hammonds Morgan in Owen County, Kentucky making her full name Nancy Jane Morgan Hughes Morgan.

Ma Hughes was my great-grandmother.
