Mary Melinda Patton Crane was born the daughter of William Patton and Sarah Leannah Griggs. Married John Oliver Crane in 1871. They made their home in Brasstown.
Mary encouraged her children to go to school get a good education. Two of her children would go on to teach.
Mary Melinda died at age 44, of Tuberculosis.
