Edward L. "Peanut" Skirvin Sr., 76, of 290 S.R. 156, Vevay, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at the King's Daughters' Hospital.
He was born Oct. 16, 1928, in Bloomington, the son of Roland and Martha Fielder Skirvin. He was a truck driver for Smith Transfer in Indianapolis, and had lived in Switzerland County since 1979. He was a World War II-era veteran of the U.S. Army, and a member of the Vevay American Legion, Post 185; and the Vevay Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 5396. He was also a member of Teamsters Local 135, Indianapolis.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Anast-May of Long Beach, Brenda Rickett of Mooresville and Sandy Taylor of Avon; two sons, Edward L. Skirvin Jr. of Greenwood and Allen Dean Skirvin of Plainfield; his father, of Madison, Wis.; two sisters, Joanne Pierce of Piqua, Ohio, and Wilma Hughes of Tampa, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother and stepfather, Herb and Martha Fielder Lockwood; and his wife, Vivian Louise Skirvin, Feb. 5, 2005.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay, with burial in the Vevay Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Vevay American Legion and Vevay VFW.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Vevay American Legion Relief Fund, or the Vevay VFW Relief Fund.
