Anna Mary (Gronewoller) McKain, daughter of Theodore H, and Katherine A. Gronewoller, was born on the homestead of her parents near Delphos June 20, 1891. She died Nov. 29, 1971 at the Delphos Rest Home at the age of 80 years. She spent her entire lifetime in the Delphos community.
On August 2,1915, she was united in marriage to Robert Eugene McKain at St. Paul's Catholic Church. To this union seven children, Mrs. Gallista Hilderhof (who preceded her in death); Robert McKain, of Delphos: Mrs. Mary Wheeler of Minneapolis: Mrs. Alice Reid of Wichita: Theodore MeKain of Downs: Mrs. Lucy Embrey of Rogersville, Mo., and Louis McKain of Ada, were born.
She leaves to mourn her departure three daughters; three sons; two daughters-in-law; two sons-in-law; 21 grand-children; three great-granddaughters; two sisters, Mrs. Louise Eiler, of Beloit and Mrs. Lena Smith, of Rural Route 3, Salina, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, daughter, parents and a sister.
A faithful member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, she was a kind and devoted wife and mother and uncomplaining sufferer.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 2, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Delphos with the Rev. R. H. Pachta officiating. Mrs. Carroll Righter was the organist and Wilson Davis was the vocalist. Mass servers were Harold McKain, Ronald McKain and Jack Reid. Interment was in St. Paul's cemetery at Delphos. Haley Funeral Home was in charge.
Casket bearers were her grandsons, Gary McKain, Glendon McKain. Timothy McKain, Jerome McKain, Don Reid and Bob Roid.
