Bernice J. Talkington Neathery
OCONEE - Bernice J. Talkington Neathery, 87, of Oconee, died at home on Thursday, September 21, 2006 at 10:05 a.m. surrounded by her family. Bernice was born on August 5, 1919 in Tenney, Minnesota, the daughter of Charles Cleveland "Cleve" and Matilda "Tillie" Cawalti Talkington. She marred H. Leonard Neathery on August 28, 1941. She was an outstanding wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. in McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. The Rev. Ron Mulvaney will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 to 8 p.m. and Monday one hour before services at McCracken-Dean Funeral Home. Burial will be in Hammond Cemetery, Hammond, IL. She was a member of New Bethel Baptist Church where former and current members are considered extended family. Bernice & Leonard Neathery celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary with family and friends on September 3. Although in failing health, she so very much enjoyed visiting with everyone. In addition to her husband she is survived by their children: Marvin & Elaine Neathery, Coatesville, IN; Earl Neathery, New Lenox, IL; Joyce & Ed Coleman, Bentonville, PA; Harold & Ila Neathery, Chatham, IL; Wayne & Patti Neathery, Perryville, MO; Darrell & Gaila Neathery, Murphysboro, IL; Lynn & Janet Neathery, Minooka, IL; 12 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; two sisters: Violet Anderson, Decatur, IL; Lois Hale, LaPlace, IL; three brothers: Cleve Talkington, Jr. and Lloyd Talkington, both of Decatur, IL and Donald Talkington in Kentucky. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Francis Earl Talkington and sister Norma Jean Talkington.
