Hubert Grover Askew, 83, who retired in 1971 as store manager after 20 years with the Army and Air Force Exchange at Langley Air Force Base, died Tuesday, Nov. 30.
Mr. Askew was a member of the Restoration Church-Phoebus Baptist and Monitor Masonic Lodge 197, Phoebus, for 51 years.
The four-year Army veteran was in the Navy veteran during WW II.
He was a native of Ahoskie, N.C., and a Peninsula resident for 65 years.
Survived by a daughter, of Hampton; a sister, of Kingwood, Texas; and a grandchild.
Visitation from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home. Funeral 12:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial in Parklawn Memorial Park.
