Son of Ondus Arvid Carter and Marie Ellen (Shepherd) Carter. He married Geraldine Irwin, May 11, 1944 at the Navy Chapel at Mare Island, Vallejo, California. They had four sons.

CARTER, ERVIN A. "BOAKE" 80, Plano,Texas passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2003 at Presbyterian Hospital in Plano, Texas. He was born to the late Ondus A. and Marie Ellen Shepherd Carter on May 21, 1922 in Harper, Harper Co., Kansas.

During World War II, he served in the Navy aboard the USS Claxton Destroyer in the South Pacific. On May 11, 1944, he and Geraldine Irwin were married in the Navy Chapel on Mare Island Vallejo, California.

Boake worked for the Santa Fe Railroad for 34 years in various offices in Wellington, Kansas, Clovis, New Mexico, Las Vegas, New Mexico, Amarillo, Texas and retired January of 1981 while living in Friendswood, Texas. They moved to Plano, Texas in August of 1984, and joined Hunters Glen Baptist Church in December of 1984. Boake served on the Building and Grounds Committee for a number of years doing construction for various programs.

While playing football in High School, in Wellington, Kansas, the new football coach gave him the nick-name of "Boake" which he has been known by since 1938.

Boake was very well liked, and lived to do for others. He loved to work with wood, and was always doing odd jobs for the church, and church members. He always seemed to have the best interest in mind of his fellow man, and was known by his neighbors as the "Life of the Neighborhood".

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Jerry Carter, Plano, Texas; sons, Randy Carter, and his wife Brenda, Plano, Texas; Dave Carter, and his wife Jennie, Richardson, Texas; Larry Carter, and his wife Oly, Hawaii; Mark Carter and his wife Ann, Fairfield, California; brother, Dale E. Carter and his wife Betty, Wellington, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Chad, Todd, Collin, Jacob, Amber, Sarah, and Ryan; 2 great grandchildren, Emma, and Saydey; brother-in-law, Bob Irwin, and his wife Joyce, Englewood, Colorado; numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 6, 2003 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Funeral Home. Services are scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, 2003, 11:00 A.M. at Hunter's Glen Baptist Church with Rev. Kim Hall officiating.
Interment will follow at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.

If desired, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, or the Hunters Glen Baptist Church.
