Zelma L. Arno of Hillsdale, Michigan passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Drew’s Country Living. She was born on August 27, 1926 in Rome Center, Michigan to Ernest and Bernice (Poling) Pickford.
Zelma is survived by four children, Linda Stimer of Jonesville, Gerald (Vicky) Arno of Jonesville, David (Diane) Arno of Osseo and Roger Arno of North Adams; twelve grandchildren, Bryan (Sharlene Dunn) Arno, Wade Stimer, Eric (Jennifer) Stimer, Ernie (Cindi Shuberg) Arno, Jason (Nikki) Arno, Tammy (Brock) Arno, John (Erin) Arno, Tim Richmond, Terry Richmond, Todd (Jamie) Richmond, Ted (Alison) Richmond and Krissy (Derek) Wortham; twenty seven great grandchildren; eight great great grandchildren; four sisters, Violetta Bumpus, Myrtle Longbrake, Loretta Sheffer and Wanda (Terry) Warner; a special aunt, Sandy Pickford; and several nieces and nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in passing by her parents; her husband, George Arno Jr.; three brothers; four sisters; and one great great grandson, Trenton.
Zelma was a member of the Rebekah Lodge in Jerome and the Extension Club in North Adams. She enjoyed playing Bingo and euchre and always cherished the time she could spend with family. Her family wishes to express a special thanks to the staff at Drew’s Country Living and to the nurses and volunteers from Hospice of Hillsdale County.
A funeral service to honor Zelma L. Arno will be held at the Jonesville Presbyterian Church (300 E. Chicago St., Jonesville 49250) on Thursday, June 9, 2016 beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Lynne McQuowen officiating. Interment will follow at the Northlawn Cemetery in North Adams. The family will receive friends for visitation on Wednesday, June 8th from 1-3 and 5-7 P.M. at the church. In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Hospice of Hillsdale County or to Kidz 2 Kidz (P.O. Box 8, Montgomery, MI 49255). Envelopes will be available at the church.
