Beulah Jean Denton, 87, of Richmond, Missouri, died Saturday, June 4, 2016 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond.
Jean was born on February 3, 1929 in Richmond, Missouri, to John F. and Gladys (Jeffers) Bennett. She married Simms Denton of Richmond on July 26, 1947. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Robert Denton of Kansas City, Missouri; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Brenda and Bill Haynes of Independence, Missouri; Betty Yount of Kansas; Ruth and Jimmie Benson of Kansas; and Joie and Steve Leonard of Kansas City, Missouri. One brother, Jerry "Buster" Bennett of Richmond; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband, Jean was preceded in death by three sons, Clarence "Bub" Denton, John Denton and Jerry "Leroy" Denton; and one daughter, Debbie Curtis and one granddaughter, Tara Vest.
Jean was a homemaker. She also was an assistant Activities Director at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. Jean was of the Christian faith. She lived in Independence and Richmond most of her life. Jean's family would like to thank Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center on Wing III and Shirkey Hospice and Palliative Care and her angel for the loving care provided to their loved one.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either Children's Mercy Hospital or to Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center Wing III.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Visitation will be Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Burial will be in Mount Washington Cemetery in Independence, Missouri.
