Henry Edwin (Ted) Spackman was born in Kintbury, Berkshire, England. He was given his grandfather's and father's names. His father's family had joined the LDS Church in 1850. Ted's family was finally able to immigrate to Utah in 1880. He grew up in Lewiston, Utah.

The family story is that when he was a teenager, Ted started doing things that his father didn't approve of. Ted left Cache Valley and went to the Salt Lake Valley where he remained the rest of his life. Ted married Jane Mitton October 26, 1918 in Salt Lake City. There is no record of children for the couple. Jane (or Jennie as she was known) preceded Ted in death. His death certificate says that he was widowed.

Ted visited Cache Valley a couple of times and brought presents for some of the older nieces and nephews.

Ted died January 30, 1963 in Salt Lake County General Hospital. He had pneumonia. He was buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery February 5, 1963. A notice of his death was in the Provo Daily Herald and the Ogden Standard Examiner. That information can be found on newspapers.com.
