Lyons - Mrs. Dot Taylor McCullough, age 93, of Lyons, died Sunday, June 5, 2016 in the Oaks at Bethany in Vidalia, after an extended illness.
She was a lifelong resident of Toombs County, worked at Lyons Manufacturing for many years, and she and her late husband owned and operated Ponderosa Grocery for twenty years. She was Baptist, and was preceded in death by her husband, F.L. McCullough; parents, Hugh Taylor and Alice Jordan McCullough; and five siblings.
Mrs. McCullough is survived by three children, Alice McCullough Roberts, Joel McCullough, and Hugh McCullough, all of Lyons; one brother, Mel Taylor and wife Sue of Vidalia; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 7th at 2:00 p.m. in Lakeview Memorial Gardens with Reverend Henry Dowd officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday afternoon from 12:00 until 1:30. Those desiring may make memorial contributions to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis TN 38105.
