Garrett was born at Havre De Grace, Maryland to the late Ovis Baldwin and Addie Catron Baldwin. He served in the Merchant Marines. Mr. Baldwin passed away Friday at his home in Hillsville, VA. surviving, wife, Bertha M. Baldwin of the home; two daughters and spouse, Francis and Tony Oliver of Forest Hill, Md, and Christina Baldwin of Hoonah, Alaska; two stepchildren and spouse, Faye and James Alderman of Hillsville, Va, and Harless Marshal of the home; two brothers and spouse, Lacy and Violet Joan Baldwin and William Baldwin all of Elk Creek, VA; one sister and spouse, Nettie and Danny Robert Frost of Elk Creek, VA; two grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins and a host of friends also survive. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home Chapel, Independence, VA. Interment in Hines Branch Cemetery, Elk Creek, VA. Rev. Mike Wells and Rev. Danny Beasley will officiate.
