He received his education at St. Francis Academy, 3rd Ward, Emerson Schools and graduated from Kramer High in 1925. He married Rosella Mae Schilz on September 15, 1931 at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church. He did various jobs before going to work for Burlington Railroad where he worked for 46 years. He began his career in the round house and freight house and retired as agent/operator. He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Holy Name, 3rd Order, perpetual adoration, and the Eagles Club. He enjoyed music, dancing, hunting and writing including co-authoring a historical view as an agent of the Burlington Railroad.
