James Franklin Marshall, 82, of 1600 6th Street, died Tuesday, August 11, 1987 in a local nursing home. He was born November 26, 1904 in Charlottesville, son of the late Wesley L. Marshall and Lula Garrison Marshall. He was the husband of the late Julia Collins Marshall. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Jynetta M. Thomlin of Gordonsville; one son, Jacob D. Marshall and daughter-in-law, Mrs. Annie Lee Marshall, both of Charlottesville; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Joyce M. Saunders. Mr. Marshall retired in 1974 from his position as Heating Plant operator at the University of Virginia after 10 years of service; prior to joining UVa. he was a loom operator with Charlottesville Woolen Mills and a member of the University Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held 11:30 Saturday at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Keith Smith officiating. Interment will be in Holly Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 to 8 at the funeral home.
