U.S. VeteranRichard Russell Callahan, 78 of West Point, GA died Thursday, March 17, 2016 at Gentiva Hospice in Columbus, GA.

Mr. Callahan was born January 6, 1937 in Waycross, GA the son of Carl Glenn Callahan and Sally Ethel Moody Callahan. He was a retired Commercial Truck Driver with Joyner Trucking. Mr. Callahan had also worked for Walmart in Columbus. He was a U. S. Army Veteran and a member of the Melody Lakes Baptist Church, Waverly Hall. He was preceded in death by his wife Ernie Ann Kraus Callahan and brother Glenn Callahan.
He is survived by his children Elfrieda “Effie” Thomas and her husband Robbie, Michele Debra Callahan, Richard Russell Callahan, Jr. Raymond Callahan, Michael Boyd and Eric E.Callahan ahd his wife Anethia; sisters Jan Boyd and Elaine Ruger ; brothers Robert Callahan, Larry Callahan, Bryan Callahan, 16 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
