John P Adolph, 87, longtime former employee of the Sioux City Journal Tribune Publishing company, died Tuesday, July 16, at a Sioux City Hospital after a four month illness.
Mr. Adolph was born Sept 8 1871, in Hochenheim, Germany. He came to America with his parents. He first resided in Freeport, Illinois, and later lived in Le Mars and Hartley.
He married Maria Augusta Ricknagle, in 1895, in Harley. Mr. Adolph was baptized in Germany and confirmed in the Evangelical Lutheran church in Le Mars.
He worked for the Journal Tribune Publishing Co., from 1942 to 1954, as a custodian. While residing in Hartley he was commissioner of streets and marshal. He farmed for a time before going to Hartley.
Survivors include the widow, a son, Glen and a daughter Lela, both of Sioux city, four brother; a sister; a granddaughter and three great grandchildren.
