Mrs. Betty Sue Bonebrake, 88, of Lanagan, Missouri, departed this life on Monday morning, May 30, 2016, in the comfort of her home after a lengthy illness.

Betty entered this life on October 25, 1927, in Bristow, Oklahoma, daughter of the late Melvin and Evelyn (Watson) Benschoter. She moved with her family to Lanagan, Missouri as a youth and was a graduate of Noel High School. On July 14, 1946, in Columbus, Kansas, she was united in marriage to Bob J. Bonebrake and to this union three sons and one daughter were born. They resided in Eudora, Kansas, for several years where Betty worked in the cafeteria for the Eudora School District. She was also employed by King Radio in Olathe, Kansas. She and Bob returned home to Lanagan in 1985. She enjoyed baking and decorating cakes, delicious malt’s and homemade mac-n-cheese, working in her flower gardens, reading, crossword puzzles and board games, bird watching, scrapbooking, was an avid collector, especially dolls and was a self taught pianist. She taught VBS and Sunday School in many churches throughout her spiritual journey and was a current member of Honey Lake Community Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of sixty-nine years, Bob Bonebrake on December 4, 2015; a son Dennis Wayne Bonebrake; two brothers, Don and A.W. Benschoter; and an infant sister, Joyce Benschoter.

Betty is survived by two sons, Steven Ray Bonebrake and wife, Elaine, of Lawrence, Kansas and Timothy Lee Bonebrake and wife, Linda, of Eudora, Kansas; a daughter, Susan Melynn Baldwin and husband, Lonnie, of Mavisdale, Virginia; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; several nieces and nephews; along with a host of other relatives and friends who will dearly miss Betty.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bonebrake are 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2016 in the Anderson Chapel of the Ozark Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Bonebrake officiating. Burial will follow in the Lanagan Cemetery in Lanagan, Missouri. The family will receive friends on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Memorials are being directed to the Honey Lake Church, Samaritans Purse or Lanagan Cemetery Fund and contributions may be left at the funeral home.
