Son of John George and Elizabeth ROUSH DEEDS. Husband of Elizabeth DOWNING and Eunice WILDMAN and (possible) Margaret E. FUNKENHAUSER.

Family rumor is that he came to Missouri to see his brother Lewis, who was going off to war. While in Missouri, John George became ill with fever and died, leaving his new bride back in Illinois.

One of the tombstones for a John George Deeds was taken a few years back, supposedly to be fixed and then returned.

It has never shown up. If you are the family member who has it...please return it promptly. It is a federal offense to vandalize, steal from or otherwise damage a cemetery.

Thanks!
