Teresa Diane Chappel, age 49, of Columbia City, IN died at 8:36 a.m. on Monday, May 1, 2006 at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, IN. She has had cancer since 2000, however, just the past few weeks became seriously ill. She was born on January 28, 1957 to Robert V. and Marjorie Abbott.

As a small child she lived in Argos, IN, however, her family moved to Whitley County where she attended the Etna-Troy Grade School and graduated from Columbia City Joint High School with the Class of 1975. She married Steven Michael Chappel on August 20, 1977 at her Etna-Troy Township home. She first worked at Chamberlain's Products, South Whitley, Magnavox, Columbia City and was currently employed at Undersea Sensor Systems, Inc. Columbia City as an assembler. She was a member of West Point United Methodist Church and loved sitting outdoors enjoying nature, playing with her grandson and sharing her home with her dogs and cat.

Survivors include her husband, Steven Michael Chappel, Columbia City; 2 daughters, Christina D. (Brian) Sinegar, Columbia City and Amy M. Chappel, at home; her father, Robert V. Abbott, Columbia City; 1 grandson, Tyler Sinegar, Columbia City; 1 brother, John (Jill) Abbott, Columbia City; 1 niece, Amanda Abbott, Columbia City and 1 nephew, John Abbott, Jr., Columbia City. She is preceded in death by her mother, Marjorie Abbott.
