Hazel I. Curtis, 86, died May 8, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Home in Great Bend. Born Feb. 2, 1930, in Emporia, she was the daughter of Andy I. and Ethel F. (Torrence) Fowler. On Dec. 24, 1948, she married Robert Leon Curtis in Emporia. He died on Sept. 27, 2006. A resident of Great Bend since 1951, coming from Emporia, she was a self employed nurse aide.

Survivors include four sons, Robert Ira Curtis of Pawnee Rock, David Christopher Lee Curtis of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Leon Henry Curtis of Caddo Mills, Texas, and Timothy Gale Curtis of Great Bend; one sister, Lynda Hardesty of Emporia; one brother, Merle Fowler of Emporia; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Private family inurnment will be held at a later date in the Chicago Mound Cemetery in Emporia.
