When quite young she removed with her parents to Eagle, Wisconsin, where she remained until her marriage with Henry Orcutt. Soon after this event, Mr. and Mrs. Orcutt came to Iowa, residing for a short time at Earlville, Iowa. Later their home was in the village of York, Delaware county. Iowa, then quite an important business place.

At that place the death of Henry Orcutt, the husband, occurred on the 5th day of January, 1859. To this union were born five children, Chas. H. Orcutt, Betsy Orcutt, Frank Orcult, Mary E. Orcutt and Etta M. Orcutt of this number, Betsy and Mary E., died in infancy. Almost with his dying breath Mr. Orcutt requested his brother A.N. Orcutt, then a resident of Massachusetts, to look after the family he was leaving without a protector, and in a new country.

A.N. Orcutt, acting upon the request of his brother, and the appeal of the needs of the family which came to his kind and responsive nature, came west and on December 31st, 1862, Mrs. Laura A. Orcutt and A.N. Orcutt, were united in marriage. To them two children were born, George and Myra E. George died in infancy. Mr. Orcutt died Aug. 21st, 1914, having been a faithful father to the children in his charge, and a kind and devoted husband. When the railraod was built to Edgewood, the family removed here, Mr. Orcutt continuing in the office of Post Master.

Mrs. Orcutt is survived by two sons and two daughters - Charles H. Orcutt of Edgewood; Frank Orcutt of Marysville, Mo., Mrs. Etta M. Stone of Glazier, Texas, and Mrs. Myra Lain of Okarche, Oklahoma.

Mrs. Orcutt was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of Edgewood, Iowa and in her life exemplified her devoted christian character. She was a kind neighbor, a faithful friend and a loving companion and mother. Her memory will be cherished by all thos who were priviledged to have known her.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Eldridge, from the Methodist church last Saturday morning and burial was made in the Edgewood Cemetery.
