Neal H. Erwin, age 75, of 620 9th St. SW, DeMotte, Indiana, a lifetime resident of the area, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 1993, 6 p.m. at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, Indiana. He was born in Kniman, Indiana (Jasper Co.) on May 19, 1918, the son of Alvin and Maude (Armstrong) Erwin. On May 19, 1942 in Rensselaer, Indiana, he married Lois M. Myers. He was a graduate of Hammond High School, Class of 1932. He was employed as a postal carrier with the US Postal Service in DeMotte for 30 years, a high school & college sports referee and a supervisor at Hamilton Store in Yellowstone National Park, a Veteran of World War II--U.S. Army, a member of Wheatfield Masonic Lodge #642, F & A M, DeMotte American Legion Post #440 and 40-8 Volture #1251.
Survivors: wife, Lois M. Erwin of DeMotte; children, Gregory L. (Cathy) Erwin, Cody, Wyoming, Barbara (Steve) Post, DeMotte, Indiana, Mary Ann (Danny) Clements, Garland, Texas; five grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Home, 2-9 p.m. Friday, November 26, 1993. Masonic Services Friday, 7:30 p.m. at the Chapel. Funeral Services Saturday, November 27, 1993, 10:30 a.m. at the Jackson Funeral Service, DeMotte, Pastor Rick Hammond officiating. Cremation to follow.
