Son of Albert A. and Ernestine Butzin Knopp.
Married April 9, 1910 in Rocky Ridge to Ida Martha Froelich.
Mr. Knopp was at the station at Trowbridge unloading sugar beets when a man named Herman Baur came along and asked him to take a ride. Knopp accompanied him for a short spin and Baur opened the throttle to show the machine's speed. The auto skidded and the driver lost control of the machine which ran across an open ditch into a field where it turned over. Knopp was pinned under the wreck and received internal injuries from which he died about two hours later. County School Superintendent Dehn drove by in his car a short time after the accident and took the injured man home. He lived about an hour after he was taken home.
