DIMMITT - Florence A. Carpenter, 88, died Monday, June 5, 2000.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today in Foskey-Lilley-McGill Ivey Chapel with the Rev. Howard Rhodes, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Castro Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Carpenter was born in Anson and moved to Castro County from Jones County in 1953. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, member of the Women's Missionary Union and taught Sunday school.

She married J.O. Carpenter in 1934 at Jones County. He died in 1986.

Survivors include three daughters, Claudie Preston of Abilene, Darlene Dowell of Granbury and Kay O'Briant of Lubbock; a brother, Woodrow Dutton of Hereford; two sisters, Marie Austin of Midland and Eunice Burton of Kress; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church, 1201 Western Circle Drive, Dimmitt, TX 79027.
