Mrs. Earl Curry

A member of one of the Panhandle's pioneer familits, Mrs. Viola Browning Curry, died at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon in St. Anthony's Hospital. She had been ill several weeks.
Mrs. Curry, a daughter of the late Lt. Gov. James N. Browning of Amarillo, was born in Donley County on March 29, 1895.
The family moved to Amarillo a year later. Then homesteaded two sections of land northeast of the city. Her father was lieutenant governor from 1899 until 1903. In 1905 he became judge of the 47th Judicial District.
Mrs. Curry attended Amarillo public schools and was graduated from Amarillo High School. She attended Baylor College, now Mary Hardin Baylor, in Belton.
Her husband, Earl J. Curry, is former chief of the Amarillo Fire Department, now retired. He lives in the family home, 3992 Harrison.
She was a long-time member of the Polk Street Methodist Church.
Survivors besided the husband include a daughter, Mrs. Viola Ruth Gibbon, Oklahoma City, a sister, Mrs. Mettic Stevenson of El Paso; three brothers Morris Browning, J. N. Browning and Robert Browning, all of Amarillo.
Boxwell Bros. Funeral Home has charge of funeral arrangements, which are pending arrival of relatives.
